Gyeongbok Palace Projects

What began as volunteer guiding at Gyeongbokgung Palace developed into a broader exploration of cultural preservation. Through historical interpretation, research on resilient cities, and the creation of a crowdsourced photo archive, I examined how technology and public participation can help cultural heritage remain accessible, meaningful, and preserved within a rapidly changing city.

Code Development with Patent

I developed two computer programs that apply technology to scientific learning and cultural preservation. The Mendelian Genetics Probability Simulator models inheritance patterns and compares theoretical probabilities with simulated outcomes, while the Gyeongbokgung Palace Photo Archive organizes crowdsourced images through metadata and search tools. Together, the projects comprise over 1,000 lines of C/C++ code and are officially copyright-registered in Korea.

Website Development

As lead web developer and contributing researcher, I created digital platforms for three NHD Korea projects exploring the discovery of X-rays, American Sign Language recognition, and the ethics of ELIZA, earning first- and second-place honors. I also independently developed an educational website on the Jeju 4.3 Incident, using web design to make complex scientific and historical subjects more accessible.

National Honors Society

As president of the National Honor Society, I led more than 50 members in organizing service initiatives shaped by student feedback. Our chapter established tutoring opportunities for over 100 students, raised funds to support forest conservation in Jeju, and was one of six chapters worldwide to receive the Scholarship Award of Excellence.

Givers Polaris

As president of Givers Polaris, I transformed a donation-support group into a data-driven crowdfunding organization focused on targeted community impact. I led more than 30 campaigns that collectively raised over KRW 52 million, while guiding participants through ideation, product design, storytelling, campaign launches, and communication. This approach connected student-led initiatives with specific needs across poverty, healthcare, and education.

Wharton Global School

Photos are metaphors, making the abstract concrete and mystifying the mundane. Be clear, be confident, and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself.

Varsity Badminton

As a varsity badminton player specializing in girls’ doubles, I earned two KISAC gold medals, one bronze medal, and third place at the international AISA tournament. I was also recognized as an All-Tournament Player and school MVP. Beyond competition, I coached younger students in grades 1–8, leading warm-ups and drills while introducing them to the sport.

Sports Data Analysis & Research

I applied data analysis to two sports research projects spanning basketball and badminton. For the Wharton High School Data Science Competition, I adapted Microsoft’s TrueSkill model to improve basketball ranking predictions and advanced to the semifinals. I also analyzed 23 matches and 49 sets from the 2024 KAIAC Championships, producing a fourth-place research paper on how drop-shot selection influenced girls’ doubles outcomes.

ACS Chemistry Club

As president of the ACS Chemistry Club, I led more than 20 members while organizing weekly meetings, managing finances and social media, and creating content for the club and School Science Bowl. I coordinated KRW 300,000 in donations to three nonprofit organizations and guided members in collecting and analyzing experimental data with Vernier sensors, sharing the results through accessible Instagram posts.

Easy Coding

Through the school’s only coding club, I helped build a community where students could explore technology through practical and collaborative projects. I coordinated potential partnerships with KISJ MUN, counseling, and athletics while developing a teacher-moderated online discussion forum for a future school-wide launch. These initiatives aimed to connect coding with communication, student needs, and broader campus life.

GPSI

Through Pioneer Academics’ GPSI program, I explored how artificial intelligence intersects with technology, economics, and school policy. My final report examined how high schools can integrate AI while reducing student overreliance and protecting academic integrity, drawing on feedback from students, parents, and teachers. I also investigated emerging AI-detection tools and considered their wider social and educational implications.

Korea History Explanation Promotion Agency

As a volunteer guide at Gyeongbokgung Palace, I delivered more than 84 hours of historical commentary to over 50 international visitors and mentored 40 new guides. Observing how visitors perceived cultural heritage within a modern city led me to research historical preservation and urban resilience, interview heritage professionals, and develop a digital archive designed to support the palace’s continued preservation.
